Election day is just around the corner and it’s been declared a public holiday by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has, in terms of Section 2A of the Public Holidays Act of 1994, declared Monday, 1 November 2021, the date for local government elections, a national public holiday.

It is important to note that Employers making use of leave calendars and leave management systems within their payroll applications, should ensure they update these systems by adding 1 November 2021 as a public holiday.
